Since its start in 2005, volunteers with Mission Devine have repaired over 600 local homes at no cost to the families they serve. Volunteers representing nearly a dozen area churches came together last week to live out Matthew 22:39, loving their neighbors as themselves.
"I appreciate and I thank God for bringing you to help me," says Mrs. Sanchez of Devine, Texas, whose husband's debilitating illness has left him blind. Last week we took a trip to Dallas to celebrate Gary & Pat's adoption. On the way, we stopped for a day in beautiful Waco, Texas. We got to catch up with one of my college roommates, Jessica, and her family. Jessica and Matt have been buying and flipping homes in and around Waco in their very own Chip-and-Jo-esque style for a few years now. Their most recent flip turned into a keeper and is now an Airbnb house! Isn't it cute? It's located in McGregor, just 20 minutes from all the fun in downtown Waco. And it's got three bedrooms (you could easily sleep a couple more if you used the living room couch or air mattress).
Hello! Here at Marken Media Co. we've been busy building websites, writing blogs, taking photos, and editing videos. Because of all that, we have missed adding to "The Sign Says Devine" video series the past couple of months. But we can't wait to bring you the next video!
Mission Devine has brought our community together in amazing ways since 2005. I (Kennan) was just a teenager when I volunteered with my youth group from FBC Devine. It was a truly life-changing experience. If you don't know what we mean when we talk about "The Sign Says Devine," check out our FAQ here. We're gearing up for a great week here in Devine, to become a sponsor of the Marken Media Co. video showcasing the way our community comes together during Mission Devine, email us. We need sponsors because we love highlighting the great people and organizations of our small town of Devine that would not otherwise be able to afford such a spotlight.
Video 2: Since 2010, Wings And Reins Equine Refuge, Inc. has helped save the lives of 200 horses. Its founder Jo Harp battles Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD), which threatens her health and mobility on a daily basis. WATCH IT HERE
Video 1: When we heard that the Devine Food Pantry helped feed over 15,000 hungry people last year, our minds were blown away. Our small town does have a big heart! WATCH IT HERE
Special thanks to our previous sponsors...
Hello, world! We have a 3-year-old on our hands! Jaxson is our picky eater. He will only eat a handful of different foods. But one of them we can cheer on is LARABAR since they're made with nuts and dried fruits. Between Marcus (my husband) and Jax, we easily go through several boxes a month! (I think I should go get stock in those things!)
So choosing our prop for his 3-year photos was easy. What wasn't so easy, was getting our on-the-move boy to stay still. |
