Party dance! When suspicions were confirmed that baby Buckner #3 is a girl, you know I hopped on Pinterest for decor ideas and pink inspiration. After snagging this art deco dresser from a Facebook garage sale, I went over to Country Gal's for some paint and DIY tips. I noticed the Plaster Paint colors before, but had never used them. Everyone at Country Gal's was so sweet. Cathy even showed me pieces in the shop she redid using the same paint. I was eager to get started but had to wait on Texas weather to cooperate. A month later, after two great weather weekends, baby E's dresser was painted and sealed. First we removed the hardware, letting all the drawer pulls soak. Marcus scrubbed them really well and they came out looking patina, which we liked, so we decided to keep the same hardware. The paint went on nice and seemed to even thicken up a little as it dried. I ended up using two coats, letting the first coat dry thoroughly before starting again. I was surprised to find that the one small jar of paint was enough for the whole piece. Then it came time to wax! After watching the online video tutorial, I went with the cloth method. I was a little worried about getting it on too thick. But it wasn't so bad. Just like the old days of cleaning school shoes with a little Vaseline. ;) Now the finished product. First, if you're into I Spy you've probably already spotted the Buckner mystery of 2019. Somewhere between the mop bucket where the hardware soaked and drying it out on the planter ledge, we lost a drawer pull. (#facepalm) So if you've got a metal detector and an investigative spirit - come on over! Our best guess is a kiddo took one to play with it while we weren't looking. We've looked everywhere. It's driving us crazy. I might end up Google-hunting for a matching one or sadly swapping them all out after all. I don't think I'm as adventurous as blogger Artsy Chicks Rule who solved the same problem by making a mold of existing hardware and then created a replica. That's dedication. Can't wait for more PINK nursery projects. I guess it's nesting time. See you soon, Kennan Like before and afters?
