When we heard that the Devine Food Pantry helped feed over 15,000 hungry people last year, our minds were blown away. Our small town does have a big heart! That's why we're so excited about the first video in "The Sign Says Devine" video series.
"My wife was selling her own blood to be able to put food on the table when my son was diagnosed with cancer." I'm a sucker for discounts, especially when it comes to trying new things. When I did the quick-math, it felt like I'd be getting a good deal so I gave HelloFresh a try.
HelloFresh "aims to provide each and every household in its 9 markets with the opportunity to enjoy wholesome home-cooked meals with no planning, no shopping and no hassle required." With free shipping and a good coupon code, I divvied up $3.50/per person per meal and gave HelloFresh a try. Here's a peek into our first week and some of the pros and costs to consider. Pros to HelloFresh 1. It's easy. After a few taps on the keyboard, I selected two healthy meals for the upcoming week. Our first box came right on time. The ingredients were packaged in clearly labelled bags and kept at safe temps in the neatly ice-packed HelloFresh box. Are you too busy running your business to give much attention to social media? Are you struggling to create content that is both engaging and applicable to your business? Well, we're here to help! Here are three essentials to creating great content and boosting your business' bottom line.
Being small business owners, we know it's hard to draw boundaries between working and resting. The line between work life and family life is sometimes blurred and often overlaps.
Let's face it, that's a big reason why we like working for ourselves. We can jump from playing trucks with our toddler and rocking the baby to sleep, to answering a client's question about a recent project or booking a photo shoot around our family's schedule. But being our own boss also means we've got to give ourselves some time off. And that can be tough. Here are a few ways our family turns off, clocks out, and is intentional about rest. We recently visited Blue Bell Creameries in Brenham, Texas. When we arrived, we were greeted by the sign featuring the slogan they've become famous for, "We eat all we can, and we sell the rest." I've wanted to visit when we've passed through town before, but never had the chance. Hard to believe, but it's already been a couple of years since their troubles with listeria. Of course, even back then it didn't seem to change die-hard fans' view of the "national ice cream of Texas" as ice cream lovers rallied behind their favorite brand. And I must say, our visit was sweet to the taste and reminded us of a few things about being successful in business.
After several years in the Houston area, we left the big city to return to my (Kennan's) hometown of Devine, Texas, with dreams of renovating a home and making it our own. We are so excited to share part of our hometown renovation journey.
Our style is inspired my mid century modern design, lots of Fixer Upper watching, with some Young House Love DIY twists. In this blog series, we will share some of our favorite before and afters. Especially now that we work from home with the Marken Media Co. office just steps from the kitchen, it's important to us that our environment is part of our inspiration. We work well in a space that inspires us, feels light and airy, and let's face it, also lets us live (with all the laundry piles, toy piles, and random piles of unusually large size). |
